Allah is الودود, The Loving,

He expresses His love to His creation by continuously taking care of their needs, giving them, having mercy on them, guiding them and protecting them. He shows His love by the love He placed in their hearts for one another.

A friend told me about a woman she used to see in a masjid where she lived. This woman had a number of children, one of them with severe multiple disabilities. This disabled child obviously had much of her time and care because her needs were extensive. The woman once told her that in trying to comfort her people say the most hurtful things about her child. Things like: “Don’t worry, soon she will die and you can rest.”

The woman said: “They don’t realize that of all my children, I love this one the most.”

Even for those of us that are weak and perhaps not the most obedient or grateful for their blessings; Allah, The Loving, continues to show His love by taking care of us.

Never once entertain the idea that Allah has abandoned you! He is always ready to show you some love. Seek it.

Ya Allah, Ya Wadood, fill our hearts with love for You and Your creation.”
